Photovoltaics in Q22

The construction of the Q22 office building is nearing completion. The infrastructure of the 155-metre building is a series of technologically advanced modern solutions. They include an innovative system of photovoltaic panels.

The innovative solution, which takes into account the specificity of the building, has been developed by Maybatt. Its uniqueness involves integrating photovoltaic cells with the facade while maintaining transparency i.e. the BIPV (Building – Integrated Photovoltaics) technology.

“We would like it to be possible to look at the sky, the clouds and the sun. The panels create a kind of blind, which reduces light access and heating on the one hand and will also be an element of shading,” says Igor Grabiwoda, architect of the Q22 project.

Another interesting aspect is the usage of photovoltaics as a source of heat, which makes it possible to automatically heat and clear the modules of snow.

“Q22 is a unique project. It is unique for a lot of industries, including ours i.e. photovoltaics. In order to make the grade and design the system well we had to invent an elegant, innovative and functional system. I strongly believe that we are starting a new era with the project, which will make photovoltaics a regular standard in office buildings,” says Bartłomiej Zysiński, president of the board at Maybatt Sp. z o.o.
